Spring 2004

Calendar Update

FRIDAY, MAY 7, 2004
BIMBO'S 365 CLUB
1025 Columbus at Chesnut
(415) 474-0365

Greetings, SRO fans! Spring is here, and so is SRO! Yes, it's amazing but true--after a long hiatus from performing in public, SRO is thrilled to be returning to San Francisco's premier nightspot, Bimbo's 365 Club. Even better, we will be sharing the stage with one of the Bay Area's most popular bands, Casino Royale. Even mo' better, joining the band on stage is the oh so talented Sandy Griffith, one of our original vocalists, who is returning to the SRO roost. Please come join us for our grand return.

A Star Is Born Dept.

For those that have followed SRO the last two years, you may have noticed that one of our lead singers was the incredible soulstress, Latoya London. For those that also follow the TV show "American Idol", please note that it is the very same Latoya London who is one of the finalists this season. Everyone in the band could not be more excited for her, and we ask everyone to please vote for her if you are an "Idol" watcher. That couldn't be difficult since she is by far and away the best singer on the show! The best part of the whole deal was that I was actually called by the National Enquirer snooping for items on Latoya. I know I have finally made it in show biz now that I have spoken to the Enquirer!

More Idol info on Latota.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame, Again Dept.

Yes, it's that time of year - fresh grass, the crack of the bat, and bad hot dogs! That also means that it's time once again for me to play the National Anthem on my funky fiddle at Pac Bell, ooops, I mean SBC Park (just doesn’t sound right). Come watch me saw away on Tuesday, April 13, the first night game of the year. It's always a gas to perform for 40,000 people, and the Giants are one classy organization.

Other Groovy Gig Dept.

If you have followed SRO through the years, you know by now that many band members do many other groovy gigs. Our awesome lead vocalist, Skyler Jett will be performing April 9 and 10 at the Broadway Studio (435 Broadway in San Francisco) with the Funk Family Affair. The group includes original members of Sly and the Family Stone. I'm sure they will be playing all the hits, and Skyler Jett is one of the few soul men around that will do justice to this great collection of music. Be there or be square!

SRO Trivia Fact #5,231

Being an election year, I took an informal poll of SRO band members to see who they would like to see as president. Here are the top three vote getters in no particular order.............

  1. John Kerry (democrat)
  2. George Bush (republican)
  3. Barney (independent)

(Please note that there is a margin of error +/-- of 92%)

That's it for now. Once again, we are very excited to be coming back to Bimbo's on May 7. I'd like to thank all our loyal fans for e-mailing and staying in touch regarding our next public appearance. It's finally happening, and we want to see you all there.

Peace & Love,

“Maestro” Dick Bright, bandleader, SRO
